The last thing you want is something overwhelming to do for a festive weeknight meal. We are going to do this from start to finish in a snap. Believe me I can walk you through a labor intensive Lasagna. That is not our goal here!
First step is in a pan brown 1 pound of ground beef then drain grease. To this meat add 1/2 cup small diced onion, 1/3 cup Italian Seasoning and 4 cloves of garlic minced(fine-fine Chopped). To this well blended and sautéed mixture add one jar of marinara. Feel free to use any type of marinara you want. I prefer Barilla. Stir and Combine this all.
In a shallow square dish start your lasagna building . I always begin with a layer of sauce with meat. Next, cover this layer with a generous helping of shredded mozzarella and 6 TBSP of Ricotta layered across top. When you add the Ricotta do it in a two 3 spoon lines. The noodles are next. Add the noodles in a to cover the meat ,sauce ,and cheese layer. This pattern will continue until you reach the top of the dish. Be sure to alternate the direction of the noodles on each layer. Press down between each noodle separation to ensure a Solid Dish. So, one row horizontal one row vertical. Finally the Key is ……….A generous covering on the top with meat sauce followed be Shredded cheese. Cover with a layer of Parchment before covering with foil. You will need to bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. When you reach 40 minutes , remove foil and parchment and continue to brown for 8 minutes.
The key to a solid , stacked lasagna is allowing it to rest for 10 to 15 minutes before cutting. The only thing left is to cut and serve. We use a final dusting of Parmesan “SPRINKLE CHEESE” at the Table.
